Why Target...Why???!

(These are not my kids nor my cart. This is just for an example of the "Suburban" cart)

Why is it that every cart at the grocery store has broken straps? The same goes for restaraunt high chairs. Does the management care about the safety of the children who sit in the carts? Does the management care for the sanity of the parent?

I was at Target today after being at a doctor's appt for Nick and Cody for an hour and a half. So Nick was already tired and cranky. I got to the store and got one of those huge "suburban big" shopping carts with the extra 2 seats at the back (kind of like the one in the above picture). I placed Cody in his carseat up where the single seat is and Nick on one of the 2 chairs and of course, Kyle HAD to sit there too. I look and both straps are broken. One has one shoulder harness and hald a clip. So I used what was available. 2 minutes later, Nick was out and about walking around, getting into things, etc. I kept putting him back on his seat and it was getting uglier and uglier. Kyle was not helping the situation by bugging Nick. I had a huge shopping trip so I couldn't out him in the basket. I went down the Easter aisle and gave him an Easter truck to play with but that didn't work. I picked up a box of fruit snacks and opened it to give him some. Kyle thought we were stealing it but I assured him that I would pay for it. After those were all gone (about 2 mins later) he was back at coming off and then he found tht he could push it while I was looking at things to buy with my back turned. It was bad. Finally about 45 mins into my trip, I broke down. I literally broke into tears. People were walking pass me with expressions like "What's YOUR problem?" I called Ty for reinforement. He luckily works 3 mins away and he would come right over. I just sat on the huge red plastic seat thing and had tears running down my cheek in the middle of aisle 5, the snack/juice aisle, all the while Nick was getting all the huge juice bottles off of the shelves. I just shut down. I just sat and waited. Finally Ty showed up and took all 3 kids off of my hands. I did the rest of my shopping with relief.
Going back to my first point, if the cart had straps that weren't broken, I would have strapped him in and let him scream his head off. It would have driven me a little bonkers but I would not have had a break down.
Uhhhh, it's hard! I try not to go out becasue I din't want this to happen! But I NEED to get out, you know?! BTW, I had like $20 in coupons that I used! Yay! It feels good to save money.

Purse Invites

I am on the Enrichment Commitee for Relief Society. I am in charge of publisity. So I had to make 100+ "purse" invites (our theme is "purse"onel enrichment) and 100+ purse diecuts with the RS Declaration on it. It wasn't too hard thanks to my Cricut machine. And my hubby helped me put them together.
This is the invite. I also had to do a flyer to go in the RS handout. So I did and emailed it to the lady in charge. On Sunday, I quickly turned to it to see my beautiful work of art only to find that it had TOTALLY been changed! I was like, "OK?!" It made me feel bad but I have to admit that id waws cuter then what I had whipped up. So, whatevah!

Check these CHICKS out!

My sister is crazy. Her family bought 24 chicks! They are so cute! They invited us over to see them. If you held food in your hand they would come over and peck at it. I had never held a baby chick before (deprived childhood, I guess). They were so little and fluffy. They were noisy little critters too. They got them to sell to some neighbor and they're going to keep 4 or 5 of them for their eggs and eventually eat them. But don't tell the chicks that, poor things! They're tryin gto convince us to get some. No thank you!

5 Birthdays!

My bros girlfriend, Ashley, actually had a bday on Feb 20th so we were actually celebrating 6 birthdays. This is a pic of all 6 of us!
Me and Nick

My family has 5 birthdays in 3 weeks, so this year we celebrated them all on one day! We had everyone over for a great lunch on Feb. 28th.

Here is the cake with our names on it! My brother Chris (Feb. 22), my sister Karen (March 7th), my brother Steve (March 12th), me (my parents call me Debs, March 15th), and my son Nick (March 1st). What a happinin' party!

We brought out the American Idol Karaoke game on the XBox. Steve and I were the only "cool" ones to get up and play. We both kicked it.

Cody eating some beads.

Steve with his girlfriend Ashley. They're so cute together!

My niece Jss and her dad, my bro, Dave.
My bro, Chris, Dalila (she's from France!), Tabitha, and Ryan.
Arrrrrgh...my pirate Granny Pat. (She's from England and she lost an eye to cancer.)
My parents. Their smiles actually look genuine in this one!

Valentine's Day

I put together a scavenger hunt for the boys for Valentines.
These are the clues...

The first clue was in the fridge...
I had asked him to get the syrup out and he found the heart! I'm so sneaky!

the second under the table...
the third on our bath tub (I have nice pj's don't I?!)...

the fourth in the scrapbook room...

the next in the basement but I didn't get a pic of it. And finally the closet.

They were excited to see what they got. I filled bags they decorated with some candy, Pez, and a Bakugan. (Bakugan's are the new "thing" for boys. They're like Pokemon but in ball form. I don't get it.) Nick got new pj's and Cody's bag actually had Ty's candy in it. I also gave Ty a cube that spins that has all the boys pictures on it for his desk at work.
We took the older 2 boys swimming at the Rec Center that day. I was so proud of them because they went down the big slide there. Shawn even went by himself. Yay! Ty and I didn't do anything because we had celebrated earlier by going to the temple.

Happy Birthday, Nicholas!

Two years ago today, Nick entered our family. He was two days late and I had to get induced because the fluid levels were way low. He has brought so much joy (and Trouble! That's with a capitol "T") He loves to give kisses and pats on the head to everyone. I love to lay down with him and have him roll over to me and give me the biggest hug just out of no where. He has also been a big challenge too. He gets into everything, picks on Kyle (yes, his OLDER brother!), and is just a regular 2 year old. But we love him and we're happy he's a part of our family!
He had jaundice when we brought him home so we layed him in the sun. He ended up needing the bili lights. Oh, that was torture.
Our family of 5. Just doesn't look complete, does it?!
He had the most amount of hair at birth then any of our other kids had. He is also bigger and heavier then any of them.
It's crazy to remember how small he was.
Sweet Baby of Mine!
