Today
Today the smoke alarms went off for no reason. And I don't mean the usual annoying high pitched "chirp". They went off for about 5 seconds then stopped. the boys immediately looked through all the house to check for the fire. They went downstairs and we warned them to feel the doors before opening them. Luckily, there was no fire. But Nick kept insisting there was. Ty left to go to the Priesthood Session leaving me with 4 hysterical boys. Nick kept yelling to me, "Ma - there fire. I 'mell 'moke. Weally, Ma. Go outside so we don't die." I say I'm OK, there's no fire. Then he goes, "Well, I no die, I want to live. So goo-bye ma, have fun dyin". As I am writing this he keeps yelling from the back door that he sees smoke and I need to get out. What fun. At least he know fire safety. I think we will get out of the house for some YoGoToGo, just to be on the safe side!

Tonight I...
Tonight I put 2 little boys to bed. The first boy (Cody) decided he wanted to sleep on the floor. I covered him in a blanket and read a Moon story to him. The 2nd boy (Nick) said his bum was itchy. He has eczema. So I got lotion and put some on his bum for him. The first little boy yelled from his floor bed and said his bum was itchy too. I read the moon book to the 2nd boy and hugged him goodnight, placing his 2 swords next to his bed. Then I went to the first boy and rubbed lotion on his bum.
So tonight I put lotion on two little bums.
So cute!

I need to live with it!
A couple of weeks ago I was very stressed out about the house. It was so messy! Everything was disorganized (hence the organized pantry project!). And I had people coming over. So I was busy cleaning and making sure everything was put away. The house looked great but it would get all messy again by the end of the day. So I have decided to take a new approach. I need to just LIVE WITH IT! This house is lived in. 4 growing boys live in it. 2 adults live in it. We make messes (well, mainly the boys an the hubby, not me, of course!!). We need to live. I don't want a house where you have to walk on eggshells or be constantly reminded or thinking of "Oh, is this going to make a mess?" I hate places like that. I want a home where it's ok if you leave the cereal out or it's ok to have dishes in the sink. I'd rather be doing other things then cleaning. Don't get me wrong, I will still clean up after the kids go to school and put the dishes away. I just need to not stress about it anymore. So sorry people if my house is not up to your "clean"standards. Get over it!

A Fear that I Love
I fear swings. Even when I was little, every time I swung I had a feeling in the pit of my stomach that the swing set was going to fall on me. Or that I would knock into the other swings and get a concussion. Or something drastic like that.
But one thing I love is to swing laying back with my long hair dragging on the ground as I stared up at the sky. When I do that all my fear goes away. I am able to relax and actually enjoy life. Today I enjoyed life. I got on a swing and laid back and relaxed. It brought me back to the days when I was 6, 7, and 8 when I would go to the elementary school behind my house and swing as high as I could while I laid back. My hands tightly griping the metal chains. My hands getting blister. I would stare at the tall trees as they got nearer then far away, nearer, and then far away. The swings doing their usual "creaking" sound.
Now as I take my boys to the "Swing Park" behind our house, I still have those fears. Fear they will swing into the bars and crack their head open but it is silenced with the loud screams of excitement and thrill. I'm glad they don't have that same fear as me. And sometimes I even teach them new tricks to perform on the swing.

*%$#@^&&* PRESSURE COOKER!!!
My MIL gave me a Pressure Cooker for Mother's Day a few years ago. It is a very nice one with digital read outs and a plug and such. I must admit that I have never used it...until today. I was too scared and I didn't know how to use it. So I researched online and read and highlighted the instruction manual and decided to try making Cafe Rio Pork.
I defrosted the meat, made the Spicy Ranch dressing(which I got some jalapeno pepper in my eye. It was on fire for about 30 mins, Hurtiest thing EVER!) and got the tortillas out and ready to cook. I stuck the pork roast in the cooker, browned all side, added water, put the lid on and turned it on. It was exciting and I felt like a daredevil.
No smoke or sparks were coming out of it so I went on to make a yummy dessert (Better Than You know What Cake) and then the beeper beeped. I got a spatula and used the handle to make the steam come out. Then I grabbed the handle (BTW IT IS VERY HOT, I burned my hand! duh!) Opened it up. I was so excited to see this perfect juicy tender roast! My heart was pounding!
I opened it up and looked at it and stuck my fork in to shred it but it was STIFF and HARD. I thought maybe I need to cook it more. I cooked it 15 more mins. Opened it and it was the same. I was sad. I called my mom since she used to cook with a Pressure Cooker all the time (used to). She went over a long list of what I could've done wrong but I had done everything that she said. I made sure the lid was sealed on, I had the pressure thingy in the right spot, there was no steam escaping, etc. I don't know what happened. I cried. I felt disappointed in myself. Everyone said that Pressure Cookers were easy to use and made way good food so I was so disappointed that I couldn't do it. That's when I felt like #$#@^* YOU PRESSURE COOKER!!!
I called my mom and asked if she could take us to dinner.
We went to Lone Star.
Maybe one day I shall try this adventure again.
