My Many Talents

I am part of the Enrichment Commitee in my ward. They asked me to be in charge of a craft project again this year. Last year I did the reverence books (ugh..so much work and no one appreciated it!) This year I was asked to do a recipe holder clipboard. I got a little 6x9 plain wood clipboard and decorated it: I made two to show a different way to do it: a more hard decorative way (paint, ink, layers, ribbons) and the easy fast way (paper and ribbon only).
Here is fabric I just got to sew into curtains for my scrapbook room:
I'm also going to make more pillow covers with the red fabric.

Here is the instruction sheet to my next quilt square:
I was scared when I looked at it because I couldn't understand it, but I figured it out and cut out the fabric:
Yay!

My sister is letting me borrow her cutting mat and cool fabric trimmer. It is just like a paper trimmer so I wasn't intimidated at all! I want one but I can't find one ANYWHERE! Ugh!
Oh and that's my cute doggy Molly. We gave Bella to my brother. 2 dogs was just crazy. It
s nice now though because Molly os now trained and not hyper!

So I have a lot of projects to do. I like it, it keeps me busy and I'm trying new things!

Kyle's Bday

Kyle turned 6 a couple weeks ago. Man alive! He was my baby! Anyway, he wanted a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle cake, "the red one, mom". So here is my attempt. I have read other blogs and seen other cakes people have made. My cake designing does not even measure up at all. But when Kyle saw it for the first time his whole face lit up. He said it was awesome. And that's all that matters! We went to Chuck E Cheese for dinner. Cody HATES Chuck E. Look at his face when he came near:
So sad, look at him in the bottom corner...still screaming!
Kyle got some tickets and a high 5 for his bday! (Cody still screaming!)
Look at that face! Later in the evening Kyle said "Mom, this is the best birthday ever even though we really didn't have a party!" So sweet! He really was happy all night! A total 180 from last year!
His Presents!
Yay for the Birthday Boy!
Ready to sing!
Nick literally dived into the cake and ate like a little piggy!
He looked up and gave his evil laugh and then dove right back in!
I am so proud of Kyle. I love him so much. He is the biggest helper! But he is also the biggest whiner! But He's my buddy and I love him. He really should only be 3 pr 4 though, not 6!!!

Remembering Grandma

Yesturday was the 7th anniversary of my Grandma Luker's passing. To mark the occasion, we all headed up to the Salt Lake Cemetery to think of her and share stories. My Grandpa, who is 95 years old, was able to make it. It was so sad to how frail and weak he has gotten. It rained a lot and Ty got out our huge umbrella that you can stake into the ground for shade. It was huge and got a lot of comments! I felt the Spirit so strongly while we were there. There were stories of the days before she passed and her experience she was going through. It was so special. And how she still had hewr sense of humor! She said, "Uh oh, it's getting hot in here. I must be going the wrong way!" I feel so bad that I wasn't able to see her those last days. I feel I know her better now though. As we were there, we noticed a eautiful double rainbow. My Grandpa loved to paint so we feel she painted them for us to know she was there. It was a very nice Spiritual experience for me. My sister and I cried our eyes out and hugged. It was very touching. My Grandpa sitting. My anut and uncle behind him. My dad is on the left.
Cousins, Aunts, Uncles...
The group. There are A LOT more Lukers but I guess they couldn't all make it. You can see our huge umbrella in the very back. It's the huge blue one!

Pantry Raid

Cody crawls everywhere and gets into everything! This one day he crawled into the pantry. When I noticed, he looked up and did his little evil laugh and continued to eat a graham cracker he had found.
Here is his Dr. Evil laugh picture!
He does this way funny thing with his mouth where he...he...I just can't even describe it so I took pictures:
He'll do this face when ever. It' sweet!
I love this boy!

Interested?

To all those interested in doing the Quilt Club, you need to go to Sew n Save in Clinton. It's kinda by the KMart, right off Antelope Dr. The colors/fabric is already picked out for you which is kinda nice and bad. It's nice because you don't have to think of what looks good with what and it's bad because if you don't like it, you're out of luck! They have the finished quilt hanging in their shop and I think it's cute! So go and sign up! It would be fun to cheer eachother on!!! And let me know if you do sign up!

Sore Bum

Nick threw up a couple nights ago and the past couple days he's had diarreah. I feel so bad for him! Every time I would need to change his diaper, he would run away from me adn cry saying No! No!. His bum was so red. He wouldn't even lay down, I had to lay him on his side. He just layed on the couch watching Cailou and Toy Story.
Look how his bum is in the air, poor guy!

A Square

My Visiting Teacher (who happens to be my friend, too!) suggested we do a quilting class together. I have never quilted and have always wanted to. So she said she would look into it. We saw each other at a soccer game last week and she told me about this Club that you sign up for. You go in to the store pay $20 and get fabric that's already cut for you and you just follow the directions on where to sew. Then you take your finished square back every 2nd Saturday of the month and get the next squares fabric FREE!!! This goes on for a year. So by the end, you have 12 12x12 fabric squares!!! So neat! So I was really nervous to cut and sew my first square. I am a begginner sewer so my skills are not the best. After more then a few visits with the seam ripper, and some careful slow sewing, I did it! I accomplished something! Yay for me! Here it is...I will update my posts on my progress of this wonderful quilting journey!
